September 27, 2021, a special evening event dedicated to the World Tourism Day was held at the Hyatt Regency Tashkent Hotel on the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the National PR Center. The guests of the evening were representatives of ministries and departments, diplomatic corps, international organizations, famous artists and media representatives.

World Tourism Day, established by the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in 1979, is celebrated annually on September 27. The World Tourism Day is held to promote tourism, highlight its contribution to the development of cultural ties, and ensure mutual understanding between peoples.

Every year, the UNWTO General Assembly proclaims the motto of the Tourism Day. This year, on the recommendation of the UNWTO, the celebrations are held under the motto: "Tourism for inclusive growth". On this topic, UNWTO appeals to the world to demonstrate the potential of tourism to create jobs for everyone and unite communities.

The event was officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister-Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov.

"Today, September 27 is the World Tourism Day! This date has been celebrated from 1980, the purpose of which is to promote tourism, widely publicize its contribution to the world economy and further strengthen ties between the peoples of different countries.

The Head of our state identified the tourism sector as one of the strategic directions of the national economy and signed a number of decrees and resolutions in order to create the necessary conditions for the development of the industry. Looking back at the last 5 years, we see that there have been large-scale changes in the tourism sector. As a result of the implementation of the "openness policy", the number of countries for visa-free entry to Uzbekistan for foreign citizens has increased from 9 to 90.

As a result of the attention paid by the sphere in recent years, in April 2021, the State Committee for Tourism Development was transformed into the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and the inclusion of the department in the field of sports and cultural heritage in its composition gave a new impetus to the ministry's activities.

Uzbekistan is increasingly taking high places in international ratings – The New York Times, The Guardian, The Independent, Global Muslim Travel Index, National Geographic Traveler Awards, Lonely Planet".

Within the framework of the solemn evening dedicated to the World Tourism Day, the Hyatt Regency Tashkent Hotel hosted a ceremony of awarding the winners of “Tourism fidoyisi” badge.

30 representatives of various spheres and professions, regardless of their location and citizenship, were awarded honorary medals " Tourism fidoyisi” for merits and active promotion of the tourism potential of Uzbekistan.

Among the laureates of the award are Edward Rtveladze-academician of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Boris Golender-historian and local historian, Aziza Umarova-public figure, Nikita Makarenko-journalist, blogger, Hay Davidov-ambassador of the tourist brand of Uzbekistan to Israel, Bobur Ismailov-Uzbek artist, journalists - Dilobar Yakubova and Barno Ikramova and many others.

In July 2020, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On measures to create favorable conditions for the development and rehabilitation of the tourism sector in the Republic of Uzbekistan" was issued, which, in particular, gave recommendations on supporting startups in the tourism sector.

At the gala evening dedicated to the World Tourism Day, an award ceremony was also held for the winners of the best tourism startups.

On September 22 of this year, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan launched a republican contest under the hashtags #carfreeday_uzbekistan #shaxsiynamunakursat #avtomobilsizbirkun as part of the World Day without a Car. At the gala evening on September 27, a solemn awarding ceremony was also held for the winners of the contest, journalists and bloggers for actively promoting the World Day without Cars and its hashtags on the social pages.
