A resolution was adopted on holding the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand

The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution on holding the 25th session of the General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Samarkand at a high level. According to the document, the 25th anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly will be held on October 16-20, 2023 in the city of Samarkand.

The resolution “On the organization at a high level of the 25th session of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in Samarkand in 2023 and measures to obtain the status of the city of Shakhrisabz “Tourist Capital of the Organization of Economic Cooperation in 2024" specifies the necessary measures for holding the event at a high level. In particular, it is planned to develop a special guide with general information about Samarkand for foreign guests participating in events within the framework of the General Assembly.

In addition, the decree provides for the preparation and wide dissemination of photos and videos reflecting the lifestyle of our people, the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourist Center and cultural heritage sites, tourist infrastructure, ecotourism, as well as propaganda materials on the topic “Samarkand is the tourist gateway of new Uzbekistan" and other topics.

At the session, one of the oldest cities of our country – Shakhrisabz – will be presented as a candidate for the status of “Tourist Capital of the Organization for Economic Cooperation in 2024".

For information, in 2021, at the 24th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Madrid, Uzbekistan received the right to host the 25th anniversary session of the Organization.
