The winners of the festival “Qovun sayli” were awarded

In order to further develop agrotourism, increase the flow of tourists to the regions with wide promotion of existing opportunities, the Tourism Committee together with the Khokimiyat of the Khorezm region organized the festival “Qovun sayli” (“Melon Festival”) in the ancient city of Khiva.

At the festival, on an area of 4 hectares near the Polvon gate on the Alley square, 60 pavilions of the khokimiyats of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions of Uzbekistan and Tashkent, as well as 13 cities and districts of the Khorezm region were presented, there participants demonstrated fruit and vegetable products grown in the regions, handicrafts, as well as about 125 varieties of melons, such as “Gurvak”, “Qilichboy beshak”, “Qariqiz”, “Tuya qovun”, “To‘yona”, “Ola zamcha”, “Xorazm oq novvoti”, “Ko‘k gulobi”, “Bo‘rikalla”.

Based on the results of the festival, winners and prize-winners were determined. In accordance with this, the Yangibazar district of the Khorezm region became the owner of the “Grand Prix” (the prize is a “Tracker” car). The first place went to the city of Urgench (prize – “Onyx”), the second place - to the Khiva region (prize – “Damas”), the third place was shared by the Urgench region, the city of Khiva and the Koshkupyr region (the prize for each was “Motorcycle”).

The winners in the nominations “For the processing and storage of melon”, “For the restoration of ancient Khorezm varieties and the introduction of new innovative technologies”, “For growing the most profitable and export melon in melon growing”, “For growing the sweetest ecological melon” were also determined and awarded.

It is noteworthy that thanks to the event, more than 30 thousand foreign guests and about 400 thousand local tourists visited the Khorezm region these days. For information, such festivals serve the further development of domestic and foreign tourism and an increase in the number of tourists.
