Tashkent will host the World Junior Weightlifting Championship

May 21-31, Tashkent will host the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships.   The competition is included in the list of licensed tournaments and gives ranking points for participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The junior competitions within the framework of the World Weightlifting Championship will take place in Yunusabad sports complex in Tashkent.The sports events will be held at the highest level with the participation of international experts in athletics and with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Weightlifting Federation of Uzbekistan.

Recall that from April 16-25, the Asian Weightlifting Championship was held in Tashkent. More than 180 weightlifters took part in the competition. At the open competitions, our compatriot, Olympic weightlifting champion Ruslan Nuriddinov set a new world record by lifting 241 kg in the clean and jerk. Thus, at the Asian Championship in the weight category over 109 kg, the first 2 places were shared between the Uzbeks Ruslan Nuriddinov with a result of 241 kg and Akbar Juraev -188 kg.

According to the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan, the men's national weightlifting team of Uzbekistan took second place at the tournament, losing to the team of Kazakhstan. The third place went to athletes from China.
