On April 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was acquainted with the transportation and utilities sector projects presentation, within which the implementation of the Strategy for the Development of the country's airports until 2035 was discussed.
During the meeting, the President of the Republic was presented with a project for the construction of a new international passenger terminal at Bukhara Airport based on public-private partnership.
Currently, appropriate documentation is being developed for the selection of a private partner, through tender selection.
The estimate of the total volume of investments is $ 136 million, of which:
$66.7 million is a property complex that is not subject to privatization, which will be built at the expense of Uzbekistan Airports and NBU loans;
69.3 million dollars — property complexes that will be built at the expense of private investment.
The project will be implemented in 2022-2024.
Also during the presentation, a proposal was made to build a single international airport for the cities of the Fergana Valley.
The current Andijan, Namangan and Fergana airports are located within the city limits and are surrounded by dense buildings, which limits the possibilities of their expansion.
The country's airport development strategy until 2035 provides for the implementation of airport specialization until 2026, for example, the development of Tashkent Airport as an international hub, Navoi Airport as a cargo hub, and Samarkand and Bukhara airports as tourist hubs.
