The summer issue of the Dutch journal "Journalist Travel Magazine" published an article about Uzbekistan, prepared on the basis of the personal impressions of the journalist Willie van Rooijen, who visited our country in September last year.
In this article, the author shares his impressions about visiting legendary cities along the Great Silk Road such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. He called this trip «The journey through time».
In his work, Willie describes in detail a visit to Registan with its handicraft shops, the Mirzo Ulugbek observatory, the Bibi Khanum mosque and other attractions of Samarkand.
Then he describes the pilgrimage place Chor-Chinor, which is located on the way to Bukhara. The author tells to his readers about fifty century-old plane trees grow here. According to local legend this plane trees grew from cuttings abandoned by birds. One of the trees served as a refuge for the followers of Suffism. Also in Bukhara, the journalist visited the workshops of artisans, the mausoleum of Ismail Samani and other architectural monuments.
The author particularly remembered the acquaintance with the Poi-Kalon minaret, which greatness at one time amazed even the famous conqueror whose name was Genghis Khan. He preserved the minaret, while destroying the entire city.
The author continues his journey by car along the Amu Darya River, through the Kyzylkum desert. After arriving in Khiva, the journalist stayed here only for one day. He writes that you can wander the streets of Ichan-Kala all day and constantly discovering something new for yourself.
In the end, the author shares with his readers useful information such as the Dutch tourists do not need a visa to Uzbekistan and gives useful recommendations for traveling around our country.
