The Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization visited Uzbekistan

From July 11 to 15, 2023, a delegation led by the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili visited Uzbekistan with official visit.

The main attention was paid to preparing and holding the main international event of the tourism industry this year – the 25th anniversary session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand in October.

As part of this large-scale event, by the initiative of the UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, it is planned to adopt a special resolution of the UNWTO General Assembly on conferring the status of the “The World Capital of Cultural Tourism” on Samarkand city.

During the visit of the foreign delegation, all organizational issues related to the infrastructure, transport-logistics and the Investment Forum planned within the framework of the General Assembly were discussed.

For your information: according to the results of the voting process within the framework of the 24th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), which was held in Madrid, Spain in 2022, the 25th session of this prestigious organization was elected to be held in Samarkand in 2023.
