The Uzbekistan national judo team has completed “Paris Grand Slam 2022” tournament with three medals

The Grand Slam judo tournament ended in Paris yesterday. Our country was represented by 5 athletes. Uzbek judoists won 3 bronze medals at the Paris tournament.

Uzbek Sharofiddin Boltaboev in the weight up to 81 kg in the fight for third place went on the tatami against Canadian Francois Gauthier and won in extra time. Inclusive of the bronze medal, Sh. Boltaboev earned 500 points in his rating standings.

Tokyo 2020 participant Davlat Bobonov in the weight category up to 90 kg won the bronze medal of the competition without a fight. Due to the fact that the Georgian athlete Beka Griniashvili, the bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympics, could not enter the tatami for the prohibited movement and the subsequent punishment of Hansoke, the bronze medal was awarded to Bobonov.

Another of our athletes in another weight category up to 100 kg Muzaffarbek Turaboev in a duel for the bronze medal defeated the Dutchman Michael Correl in the ippon standings.

Recall that this year Uzbekistan will host the World Judo Championship, which will be held from August 7 to 22 in Tashkent.
