Vuadil Tourist Village: peace and quiet in the foothills of the Pamir-Alai Mountains

Vuadil (also Vodil) is an urban-type settlement, the administrative center of the Ferghana district of the Ferghana region. It is located on the bank of the Shakhimardan River. The nearest railway station "Ferghana" is located 25 km away in the city of the same name. From there, you can get to the village by shuttle bus or by taxi. Moving in the south direction from Vuadil, after 25 kilometers there is the territory of the Uzbek exclave of the village of Shakhimardan.

The inhabitants of the village of Vuadil are mainly engaged in agriculture and cattle breeding. The population is mainly Uzbek, but also Tajiks, Russians, Tatars, Kyrgyz and others live.

There are industrial enterprises in the district, including business organizations of agriculture, household economy, a plant for processing cocoons. Agriculture also specializes in the cultivation of cotton, vegetables, melons, horticulture (especially raspberries), animal husbandry and silkworms. Cotton, potatoes, vegetables, cereals and fodder crops are grown on farms. Cattle, sheep, goats and poultry are raised on private and public farms in the valley.

Nature of Vuadil


The village stands out for its historical and natural attractions. Located in the foothills of the Pamir-Alai Mountains, Vuadil attracts attention with its extraordinary mountain beauty, clean air, ancient plane trees and picturesque views.

The village is located in the southern part of the region at an altitude of 930 meters above sea level. Voadil offers an unforgettable view of the Alai Ridge. In the south, the terrain is rugged, hilly, in the north the valley is mostly flat. Minerals include oil, natural gas, limestone, marble and huge underground coal reserves discovered in recent years, there are many mineral springs.

The world of flora and fauna of this place is diverse. Among the flora there are tulips, mint, reed, hawthorn. Among the wild animals – wolves, foxes, squirrels, rabbits, gazelles, wild boars. Among the birds are sparrows, nightingales, ducks, geese, pigeons, storks, swallows, hawks, owls and others.

Ancient plane trees of Vuadil

An 800-year-old plane tree grows in the village, in the hollow of which a small shop could fit at the beginning of the XX century. The plane tree is considered the oldest tree in Uzbekistan. There is a legend that Alexander the Great rested under this plane tree.

Not far from the oldest plane tree there are several more ancient trees-century-old plane trees, which have become a natural attraction of the village and a valuable salvation from the scorching summer sun of fellow villagers.

The mountain river Shakhimardan passes through the entire village. Numerous willows and poplars grow along it. There are trestles under the vineyards, where you can relax and enjoy nature.

Tourist infrastructure and attractions

The village has all the tourist and related infrastructure. Sanatoriums and a children's camp are open, there is a tourist zone, a camping area, cottage guest houses, a hotel, a cafe, a confectionery shop and a dehkan market. In addition, on the territory of the village there is a shrine "Khoja Ahmad Wali", not far from the shrine there is a mosque of the same name. There is also a cinema, libraries, a house of culture, educational institutions and much more in the village.
