Festival "Boysun Bahori"

The festival of renewal of nature, national traditions and folklore "Boysun bahori" ("Boysun Spring") is a real holiday for lovers of ethnic adventure and authentic recreation. Traditions, culture, and new discoveries – everything is mixed into one cocktail at the ethno festival. "Boysun bahori" takes place annually in the first decade of May in the mountain village of Padang, Boysun district.

Preparations for the festival began beforehand and careful preparation is taking place for the holiday. The organizers are the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the county executive of Surkhandarya region and a number of other organizations.

More than 200 representatives of folklore communities operating in Uzbekistan become participants of the holiday, presenting costumes and song and folklore traditions unique for their territory.

Holding a prestigious festival in the Boysun district, which has a unique value and rich intangible cultural heritage, has a deep meaning. Since in 2001 the cultural space of Boysun was included in UNESCO "masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of mankind" list. In addition, in May 2002 the first open folklore festival of folk performers of Uzbekistan was held in the Khushmanzar district, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.

At the unique festival of folk values and traditions, a large place is given to national wrestling competitions, ethnosport, bicycle marathon, ulak-kupkari, kite flying, chillak and other folk games.

At the end of the festival, the best folklore and ethnographic groups, winners of sports and folk games are awarded.
