On October 15, 2025, AirAsia X's inaugural flight from Kuala Lumpur to Tashkent landed at Tashkent International Airport.
The aircraft carried 218 passengers and was traditionally greeted with a water salute. Several tour groups also arrived with this inaugural flight, hoping to explore the tourism potential of the Bukhara, Samarkand, and Khorezm regions and the city of Tashkent.
AirAsia X representatives participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony and the cake-cutting ceremony. A national dance ensemble performed for the passengers.
Participants in the event emphasized that these flights contribute to the further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in tourism, trade and economic relations, education, culture, and sports, as well as an increase in the flow of tourists from Southeast Asian countries to the republic.
Flights on the Kuala Lumpur-Tashkent-Kuala Lumpur route are operated three times a week – on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays – on wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft.
