April has been declared Amir Temur month in Uzbekistan

April has been officially declared Amir Temur Month in Uzbekistan. The corresponding decree was signed by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The document was adopted to broadly celebrate the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman and military leader, patron of science, culture, and art, Sahibkiran Amir Temur, as well as to elevate organizational, practical, scientific, and spiritual-educational work to a qualitatively new level, taking into account the national and universal significance of the Second Renaissance, the foundations of which were laid by Amir Temur.

Key Decisions of the Decree

The following initiatives were approved by the document:

  • Broadly celebrating the 690th anniversary of Amir Temur's birth in 2026;
  • declaring April of each year Amir Temur Month;
  • Organizing meetings, artistic, educational, and cultural events during Amir Temur Month in comprehensive schools, secondary specialized, vocational, and higher education institutions, military units and military educational institutions, businesses, organizations, and mahallas with the participation of Temur scholars, writers, and artists.

Roadmap to 2030

A roadmap for the systematic study of the history of the Temurid era and the widespread popularization of scientific research until 2030 has also been approved. This includes:

  • Holding an international scientific conference on "The Role and Significance of Amir Temur and the Temurid Civilization in World History and Culture" at the Center for Islamic Civilization on April 9–10, 2026; Preparation and publication of a series of scholarly and popular science books dedicated to the history of the Amir Temur and Temurid dynasties, including:
  • publication of "Temur Tuzuklari" ("Temur's Code") with explanatory text in Persian, Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Spanish, and Russian;
  • publication of the book-album "100 Unique Manuscripts of the Temurid Era" and "100 Unique Artistic Gems of the Temurid Era";
  • organization of the delivery to Uzbekistan of copies of authentic written sources from the Temurid era stored abroad;
  • screening in Spain, France, Great Britain, and other countries of historical, artistic, and documentary films created as part of the "Tiriq Tarikh" ("Living History") project, reflecting the diplomatic and ambassadorial ties of the Amir Temur empire with European countries;
  • creation of an electronic platform for sources from the Temurid era. The adopted resolution aims to further strengthen historical memory, promote in-depth study of the rich legacy of Amir Temur and the Temurid civilization, and promote their contribution to world history and culture internationally.
