Arda Khiva Tourist Complex

Ancient Khiva. What associations do you have with this city? Maybe many ancient palaces, minarets and mosques. A city shrouded in the atmosphere of a real oriental fairy tale. For that reason, millions of tourists from all over the world flock here. Those who have not visited Khiva have not tasted the spirit of real Uzbekistan. And by the way, Khiva is not only the Ichan Kala fortress with its unique architectural monuments.

A new town is located just 4 kilometers from Urgench to Khiva. Looking closely, it resembles Khiva itself in silhouettes, only in a reduced form. This is the new tourist complex "Arda Khiva". Locals have already nicknamed it the satellite city of Khiva. The complex was built on the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, in the fall of 2024.

Port city 

The complex got its unique name "Arda Khiva", which translates as "port city", from its location. Once there was an Amu Darya riverbed near Khiva, and there is even information that this riverbed flowed into the Caspian Sea. Today, several large lakes remain from the Amu Darya. One of them is spread over 150 hectares. According to local historians, Govik Kuli Lake was a haven of ancient artisans, it was from here that clay was taken for the construction of monuments of the Ichan-Kala fortress.

To recreate the special charm of the Great Silk Road, water recreation areas and large trading platforms were created on the territory of the tourist town near Govik Kuli Lake.

Eastern Venice

By visiting the popular Ichan-Kala fortress in Khiva, guests have a good chance to walk around the unique Arda Khiva tourist complex and immerse in the atmosphere of eastern Venice by taking a gondola ride through the ancient craft centers.

Visitors enter through the wooden carved gates of Kosh darvoza and enter a small Khiva. Here guests can see a replica of the famous Calta Minor Tower and many other architectural structures in the Medieval style.

The main idea of the project is to travel around the complex along the rowing canals that stretch throughout the complex, so as not to miss the unique Arda Khiva facilities.

Chodra Hovli architectural monument 

The ancient architectural monument located 11 km east of Khiva. One of the country palaces of the Khan of Khiva was built in 1871. The unique 5-storey structure, 25 meters high, is a kind of flooded building with clay brick towers. From the height of the monument there is a beautiful view of the new tourist complex. An elevator for the convenience of tourists is installed here.

Actually, the main travel issue of every tourist. 5 modern hotels and 13 guest houses with a total capacity of 1,080 seats have been built on the territory of the tourist complex. This can be an excellent starting point for starting a trip to the tourist complex, as well as to the most ancient Khiva.

The art of zargarlik (jewelry art) has always occupied a unique place in the culture of ancient Khiva. The notable heyday of the development of this craft falls on the period of the late Middle Ages. According to historians, in the middle of the 17th century, many gold and silver jewelry, as well as precious stones, were exported to Europe, and by 1860, there were 12 gold jewelers on the list of Khiva masters.
