The competition “The most exemplary green tourism facility” is being organized

The Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 385 dated June 24, 2025, “On measures to promote the use of environmentally friendly products and the provision of services in compliance with environmental requirements in tourism facilities and accommodation establishments” has been approved.

According to this resolution, the competition is held among business entities that have achieved good results in transitioning to environmentally safe (biodegradable) products when using single-use plastic items at tourist facilities, as well as those who have shown special initiative in reducing waste in their activities by implementing scientific achievements in this field and effectively using modern technologies.

The competition is held with the aim of introducing a system to encourage the use of products with reduced environmental impact at tourism facilities, including accommodation establishments, as well as services provided in the industry based on environmental requirements.

The main goals of the competition are:

• protection of ecology and the environment, as well as prevention of its pollution by waste;
• reduction in the use of plastic products and the amount of plastic waste at tourist facilities;
• transition from single-use plastics to environmentally safe (biodegradable) products and encouragement of their use at tourist facilities;
• ensuring compliance with environmental requirements and environmental criteria in the field of technical regulation;
• support for innovative solutions and promising initiatives aimed at ecology and environmental protection at tourist facilities.

Participants must register on the official website of the Tourism Committee by August 1.

The applications of registered participants will be sent to territorial commissions by August 10. The regional selection stage will be held in September at the level of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions, and the city of Tashkent. The final republican stage for the winners of the regional selection stages will be held in October–November.

The winners of the final republican stage of the competition in November will be awarded as follows:

• 1st place – a one-time monetary reward in the amount of 150 times the basic calculation value;
• 2nd place – a one-time monetary reward in the amount of 100 times the basic calculation value;
• 3rd place – a one-time monetary reward in the amount of 50 times the basic calculation value.

At the same time, participants recognized as winners of the competition will not be allowed to participate in competitions held over the next three years.

Participants recognized as winners must carry out their activities based on the evaluation criteria established by the Republican Commission for at least three years from the date of receiving the one-time monetary reward and comply with them during this period.
