Creating accessible infrastructure for tourists with disabilities in the Republic of Uzbekistan is one of the key priorities in the development of “barrier-free tourism”. This concept not only expands opportunities in the tourism sector but also contributes to ensuring social justice and equality. In recent years, significant attention has been paid to modernizing tourism infrastructure, including the introduction of accessibility features for people with disabilities at historical sites, museums, hotels, and in public transport.

One of the most important aspects of implementing barrier-free tourism is the adaptation of the transportation system. Cities are creating conditions for the safe and comfortable mobility of people with disabilities by equipping public transport with special ramps, wider doors, and navigation signage. In addition, airports and railway stations are focusing on installing elevators and assistive devices, as well as improving the qualifications of service personnel, which helps enhance the overall quality of services provided to tourists.

Equally important is the introduction of accessibility standards at tourist sites. In museums, historical monuments, and recreational areas, the presence of special pathways, adapted facilities, and audio guides enables tourists with disabilities to fully experience the country’s cultural and historical heritage. This not only creates comfortable conditions for visitors but also contributes to increasing the country’s overall tourism potential.

Furthermore, information technologies play a vital role in the development of barrier-free tourism. Through mobile applications and websites, tourists with disabilities can obtain advance information about accessible facilities, transport routes, and services. This simplifies travel planning and helps shape Uzbekistan’s image as a convenient, safe, and inclusive tourism destination.
