From May 1 to 7 of this year, the annual International Folklore Festival “Boysun Bahori” (Boysun Spring) will take place in the Boysun district of the Surkhandarya region.
More than 100 folklore groups from over 40 countries will participate in the festival.
As part of the celebration, competitions in traditional wrestling, equestrian sports, kupkari, and other folk games are planned, along with exhibitions of traditional crafts.
Currently, the Tourism Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the administration of the Surkhandarya region, and other partner organizations are actively preparing to ensure the festival is held at a high level.
At the end of the festival, the best folklore and ethnographic groups, as well as the winners of sports and traditional games, will be awarded.
It should be noted that the cultural environment of Boysun was first recognized by UNESCO in 2001 as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, and in 2008 it was included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
