2. Watch your step, but stay aware of the trail:
Be careful with roots, rocks, and slippery spots. At the same time, look up now and then to stay on track and enjoy the scenery.
3. When going uphill — take short steps and breathe steadily:
It’s better to walk with short, frequent steps. Try to keep your back straight and push with the balls of your feet.
4. When going downhill — control your speed:
Don’t run downhill. Keep your knees slightly bent — this reduces strain. Use trekking poles if needed.
