But when you are in the capital of Uzbekistan, we recommend you to definitely visit the Tashkent metro, which is popular among tourists not only as a means of transportation, but also as one of the main attractions of the city.


And all because each station of the Tashkent metro is an architectural and artistic masterpiece of various masters. Traditional patterns and wise sayings, portraits of heroes, poets and thinkers, unique Uzbek mosaics - every metro station is a unique excursion to the history of the peoples of Uzbekistan and a unique art gallery!

As a bonus, the Tashkent metro periodically organizes events for passengers - concerts and parades, and at the Alisher Navoi and Paxtakor transfer stations, a reading room and a library have been opened.

Tashkent Metro Line Scheme

Chilanzar metro line

Construction of the metro began in 1973 and 4 years later, the first line - Chilanzarskaya, which consisted of nine stations, was opened. Its direction was from the southwest of the city through the center to the north-east of the city. Later in 1980, the line was extended to 3 more underground stations.

Today, 12 metro stations are located on the Chilanzar line with a length of 16.8 km. It is also planned to build a 13th station, which will extend to the TTZ quarter.

Uzbekistan Line

In 1984, the city administration opened another 5 underground stations of the new line - Uzbekistan. From the "Alisher Navoi" station to the "Paxtakor" station of the Chilanzar line, the Uzbekistan line went south-east to the Northern railway station.

Over the course of 8 years, new stations were opened on the Uzbekistan Line, and by 1991, there were already 11 stations on the 14.2 km line.

Yunusabad metro line

This is the first metro line opened in Uzbekistan during the years of independence - in 2001. For the first time, 6 underground stations were opened on it - from "Ming urik" to "Aybek" station of the Uzbekistan line to "Habib Abdullayev" station.

In 2020, 2 new stations - "Turkestan" and "Yunusabad" were opened on this line.

Underground metro

The construction of the ring line began on October 1, 2017 at the site from the "Dustlik" station of the Uzbekistan line to the Kuylik market. The length of the new line will be 52.1 km, of which 50.5 km will be laid above the ground by a height of 6 m and 1.6 km - by land. The new metro line will consist of 35 stations.

Currently, 7 stations have been opened, which lead from Dustlik 1 station to the Kuylik market.

Sergeli Line

At the end of 2020, 5 stations of the new Sergeli branch of the underground metro were opened.
