CNNew modern tourist centers will be established in the Surkhandarya region
In order to make effective use of the existing tourism potential of the mountainous and foothill areas of the Surkhandarya region, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has issued a Decree “On measures to improve tourism infrastructure, as well as the construction of modern service and tourism facilities in the mountain-recreational areas of the Surkhandarya region”.
In accordance with the decision, a tourist center “Omonkhona” will be established in the Boysun district on a 220.5-hectare plot of land, a tourist center “Sangarak” in the Sariosiy district on a 615-hectare area, and a tourist center “Obikhayat” in the Jarkurgan district on a 110-hectare site located on the shore of the Oktepa reservoir in the Obikhayat mahalla. To develop and manage these tourist centers, a Directorate for the Development and Management of Tourism Infrastructure will be established in the Surkhandarya region in the form of a state institution.
To carry out entrepreneurial and urban development activities in the areas of the tourist centers, undeveloped land plots will be sold through electronic online auctions.
In 2025–2027, with the aim of building hotels, family guest houses, integrated service facilities, and resort areas with the involvement of private investments, undeveloped land plots will be put up for electronic online auctions with the condition of phased payments over 10 years in equal installments.
