The grand opening ceremony of the tourist village “Omonkuton” took place in the Urgut district of the Samarkand region.

The event was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee Sardor Niyazov, officials from the regional and district hokimiyats (local administrations), as well as representatives of the general public and the media.
Speakers at the ceremony highlighted the growing attention currently being paid to the tourism sector in Samarkand, the ongoing reforms aimed at developing tourism infrastructure, and the potential for boosting the economy and regional appeal through the creation of tourist villages.

The Omonkuton village is the largest territory in the Samarkand Region and is known for its high number of visitors. During the summer season, the village is visited daily by 5,000 to 10,000 vacationers and tourists. The region’s favorable climate, towering mountains, and crystal-clear spring water attract many people.
To provide greater convenience for visitors, the infrastructure of Omonkuton has been improved.
Currently, more than 50 family-run guest houses, capsule accommodations, and other service facilities are operating to serve tourists.
