On July 9-10, the Tourism Committee organized a press tour titled "Samarkand through the eyes of bloggers" for representatives of the media and tour operators of Uzbekistan to the sights, museums, eco- and ethnotourism sites of Samarkand.

The trip gave the participants the opportunity to get acquainted with the historical and cultural heritage included in the UNESCO World Heritage List of one of the oldest cities in the world, and to see new objects that are already open to tourists or are still under construction.

On the first day, journalists and tour operators visited the exhibition “Samarkand - the cradle of the national drama theater” in the Art Station gallery, the Gur-Emir mausoleum, Registan Square, the Makhdumi Khorazmiy Memorial Museum, the Konigil Meros paper mill, the Ulugbek Observatory, the Shahi-Zinda memorial complex.

As part of the infotour, a review and presentation of key points for the development of ecotourism in the Samarkand region, related to the tourist and recreational zone "Okhalik - Okbuiro - Mironkul" with a total area of 4656 hectares, was carried out.

It is planned to build here, based on modern requirements, environmentally friendly accommodation facilities, shopping, entertainment and other tourist infrastructure facilities, in particular, zipline, bungee jumping and zorbing attractions, as well as extreme tourism areas such as rope parks, cable cars roads, hang gliding, paragliding, hot air ballooning and more. Today, the area has 16 guest houses, 8 retail stores, 5 restaurants, 13 children's camps and 28 recreation areas.

The trip not only allowed us to form a complete picture of the tourism potential of Samarkand, but also an opportunity to establish business contacts and exchange experiences between the participants of the infotour.
