The city of Shakhrisabz was declared the Tourism Capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization for the year 2024.
In this regard, a series of international events will take place on April 25-26 of this year.
The prestigious event will be attended by the leadership of the ECO Secretariat, heads and officials of the tourism administrations of the member states, honorary guests, and representatives of the mass media.
Within the framework of the forum, bilateral and multilateral meetings will be held with the participation of officials from the tourism sector of the member states.
It is expected that these meetings will address issues of experience sharing for industry development, discussion of solutions to existing problems, improvement of tourism infrastructure, ecotourism, ethnotourism, and other areas, utilization of opportunities, development of tourism entrepreneurship, including increasing youth activity, and promotion of achievements in the field.
As part of this event, there will be an "International folk" festival featuring folklore groups from ECO member states, a "Modest fashion show" competition among young designers, a "Shakhrisabz Culinary Duel" with famous chefs, an "International Ethnosport Games" festival, and an exhibition dedicated to the results of the "plein air" with the participation of leading foreign and local artists.
The holding of the event in Uzbekistan is of great importance for attracting the attention of the world community and widely promoting the country's tourism opportunities.
We remind you that considering the reforms in the tourism sector in Uzbekistan, the rich history, and cultural heritage of the city of Shakhrisabz, it was announced at the IV meeting of the ministers of tourism of the ECO member states on December 13, 2022, that the city of Shakhrisabz would be granted the status of the Tourism Capital of the Economic Cooperation Organization for the year 2024.
The event is organized by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, and the Tourism Committee.
