The rules for organizing beach areas in Uzbekistan

The website of the Certification Center for Tourist Services under the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage contains information on the organization of beach areas in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This procedure is carried out in accordance with the Regulation “On the procedure for the equipment and use of beaches in the waters of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as the protection of the health of citizens”. Approved by the Resolution No. 164 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan this regulation dated May 20, 2016.

According to the regulation, the beach and places allocated for mass recreation of the population near bodies of water must be met with the following requirements.

• The coastal area must be planned and landscaped.
• The bottom of the beach should be cleaned of snags, scraps and other objects that may pose a danger to the life and health. It should be cleaned up to 3m, with a strip width from the shore up to 50m.
• There should be no outlet of groundwater with low temperatures, whirlpools, funnels, the flow rate should not exceed 0.5m /s
• The following should be removed from port facilities, piers, berths at a distance agreed with the state sanitary supervision authorities;
• The beach should be located away from the places of disposal industries and domestic wastewater.

In addition, in accordance with articles 21 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Tourism", accommodation facilities, ski slopes and beaches are subject to mandatory certification, and must be classified in accordance with the established procedure.

In accordance with the law, certification is carried out by the authorized state body - an accredited certification organization under the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage, that is, SUE "Center for Certification of Sports and Tourist Services".

Certification of beach services is carried out in accordance with the state standard O'z DSt 13009:2021 "Tourist services. Requirements and recommendations for the activities of beaches" and on the basis of the "Regulations on the procedure for certification of tourist services and classification of tourism industry objects", approved by Resolution No. 433 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated July 10, 2020
