Tourist Village Imam Ota

258

The tourist village of Imam Ota is located in the Khojaabad district of Andijan region, in a picturesque mountainous area at the foot of the Chilustun Ridge, at an altitude of about 1100 meters above sea level. The village is distinguished by its natural beauty and rich spiritual-cultural heritage. The area is rich in green landscapes, fertile orchards, mountain springs with crystal-clear water, and fresh mountain air. The main historical and religious site is the mausoleum of Imam Muhammad Hanafiya, better known as Imam Ota — the son of the fourth righteous Caliph Ali ibn Abu Talib. In Islamic tradition, he is considered an outstanding religious scholar, spiritual mentor, and a fighter for justice. Visitors are also attracted by the ancient Jami Mosque, the Shahrikhansay teahouse built in traditional style, and natural sites such as “Orzu Gori” (“Dream Cave”), the sacred site of Manak Ota, and the Shahrikhansay River, which create a unique atmosphere of tranquility and peace.

After receiving the status of a tourist mahalla, Imam Ota has become one of the key tourism clusters in the Andijan region. In 2024, 70 guest houses were put into operation, capable of accommodating more than 1,000 tourists and pilgrims at a time. The village features cafés, camping zones, and handicraft shops, as well as the construction of a suspension bridge about 300 meters long connecting the mountain slopes. Regular domestic tourism fairs are held here, featuring master artisans' works, exhibitions, and B2B/B2C meetings. All of this is accompanied by cultural programs: folklore performances, tastings of regional cuisine, handicraft workshops, as well as recreation areas and live music stages. These services provide comfort and an immersive experience into the cultural and natural heritage of Imam Ota, making the visit truly unique.
