Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu visited Uzbekistan from March 6 to 9, coming around the cities of the Great Silk Road.
The minister began his journey from the capital of the Turkic world – Khiva. During the visit, cultural events were organized in the Ichan-Kala complex in Khiva. A festive lunch and a theatrical performance of the Khorezm regional Puppet Theater were organized under the open sky in the city-museum for guests from Turkey. The guests were impressed by the architectural monuments, original culture and national Khorezm cuisine.
The next city seen by the Turkish delegation was Bukhara. Here, the guests were no less amazed by the oriental fairy tale, finding themselves among such monuments as the Poi-Kalon complex, the Miri Arab madrasah, the Lyabi Houz complex. In Bukhara, the delegation visited handicraft centers, met with local masters of folk and applied art. Theatrical performances were also organized in the Ark fortress.
The final place of the minister's stay was the city of Samarkand. The opening of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey took place in the city. The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Komilov and Head of the Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov.
The opening of the Consulate General in Samarkand was a valuable gift for the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Such an event will strengthen the centuries-old friendship between Turkey and Uzbekistan, give a positive impetus to the development of relations between the two countries in various spheres, including tourism.
