In 2023, Russian tour operators noted a significant increase in demand for spring tours to Uzbekistan. Our country has entered the TOP 3 most booked destinations for Russian tourists in the CIS. The Association of Tour Operators of Russia has published an overview of popular tours booked for the May holidays and calculated how much a trip to Uzbekistan will cost this spring.

According to popular Russian tour operators, the demand for tours to Uzbekistan for spring-2023 is 10-20% higher than it was last season.

According to some Russian travel agencies, the convenience and variability of flights, the absence of COVID entry restrictions, visa and language barrier, safety during travel, affordable prices for goods and services have become important factors in increasing the interest of tourists to travel to Uzbekistan.

Today, Russians are willing to book tours to Uzbekistan not only for the May holidays, but also in March-April. Spring is the most comfortable time for sightseeing tours to Uzbekistan and many Russian tour operators have already prepared interesting excursion programs and plan to expand their range.

According to experts of the tourist market, the peak of bookings in the Uzbek direction has not yet come: an increase in demand is expected in mid-late March, but experts recommend to hurry up with booking tours this spring already now, as there may not be any free places in inexpensive hotels in popular cities - Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva by the peak of the season.

In addition, many tourists may have been stopped by the high cost of air tickets. According to experts, despite the variability and increase in the volume of air transportation to Uzbekistan in comparison with 2019, the average cost of air tickets to the destination remains high for most tourists.

For example, "tickets for the next dates cost from $450 in both directions," comments one of the leading travel companies in Russia, FUN& SUN.

Alyona Gromova, Director of the domestic market of the largest Russian tour operator Coral Travel, gives the following price distribution for the May holidays: an air flight from Moscow to Uzbekistan (with luggage and a return fare) will cost at least 33 thousand rubles per passenger in both directions. Tickets for Aeroflot flights to Tashkent - from 40 thousand rubles per person in both directions.

Experts also calculated the average cost of tours to Uzbekistan in the spring of 2023. On average, a weekly classic tour to Uzbekistan for two with airfare and hotel accommodation will cost from 90 thousand rubles to 158 thousand rubles, and group tours - from 104 thousand rubles to 120 thousand rubles with airfare for two.

The publication has released as part of a joint project of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia and the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
