Located at the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand, the Art Station Gallery is a unique space where contemporary art meets environmental reflection.
The gallery hosts a series of exhibitions as part of the "Art Station: freedom of speech, artistic creativity, inclusive dialogue, and crossroads of social development" project, supported by the Central Asia Arts and Culture Program and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The exhibitions explore the intersection of ecology, culture, and social responsibility.
Current and recent exhibitions:
"Between Two Rivers" (April 3–5)
This exhibition highlights the environmental impact of overusing water resources. The audiovisual installation Whisper of Oxus takes visitors on a journey along the Amu Darya River, from the Pamir glaciers to the dried Aral Sea, showing the cultural shifts shaped by ecological changes.
"We Speak the Language of Rivers" (April 5 – July 31)
Focusing on ecology, cultural diversity, peaceful dialogue, and inclusion, this exhibition emphasizes individual responsibility toward nature, society, and future generations.
Inverted Visions (March 31 – May 31)
An experimental exhibition where the traditional Uzbek element takhmon becomes a metaphor for memory, identity, and time, inviting viewers to reinterpret cultural symbols.
"On the Edge: Between Catastrophe and Renewal" (April 2 – June 30)
Curated by sculptor Nick Sayre, this project brings together sculptures created by Uzbek artists to address pressing issues such as climate change and environmental sustainability. The works are both visually compelling and deeply thought-provoking.
Art Station is more than just a gallery — it’s a space for meaningful dialogue between people, nature, and the future.
