The tomb of Amir Timur was discovered by archaeologists in the middle of the XIX century, on the back side of the Dorus-Saodat complex in Shakhrisabz.
The crypt was designed for a single burial. In the center of the crypt there is a marble sarcophagus covered with a heavy monolithic slab with steel rings for its installation.
However, it was not possible to bury the great commander in the supposed crypt, since Amir Temur died in 1405 during a campaign against China.
