Uzbekistan hosted Mr Greig on an official visit.

The visit focused on exploring Uzbekistan’s tourism offerings, cultural heritage, and the ongoing transformation of the tourism and creative sectors.
The programme covered several key destinations, including Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva.
In Tashkent, Greig visited the Centre of Islamic Civilisation, artisan studios and emerging creative spaces, and attended cultural events which offered insight into the city’s evolving cultural landscape.
In Samarkand, the delegation toured major historical landmarks such as Registan, Gur-e-Amir and the Imam Al-Bukhari Memorial Complex, as well as modern developments like Silk Road Samarkand.
In Bukhara, the visit centred on the historic centre and traditional crafts, showcasing the city’s preserved urban fabric and artisan heritage.
In Khiva, Greig explored the Itchan Kala complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which features notable architectural landmarks such as the Kalta Minor Minaret and the Kunya Ark fortress.
The programme also included an introduction to Uzbek cuisine, reflecting the country’s growing appeal as a gastronomic destination.
The visit is expected to raise international awareness of Uzbekistan and boost its visibility on global media platforms.
